We’re not the same

I’m going to write about how people are not all the same and how different we all are.

People are quite different, but we shouldn’t judge because we all have come from a different ship, and now we are in the same boat.

Of course it isn’t the intent that all the people are the same, we have to be different, and so we can learn a lot from each other about different cultures, different beliefs and more. For example, we can learn how to cook from all over the world, we can learn what their passion is.

Where do all those differences come from? The reason why not everyone is the same is because they are different on the outside as well as on the inside. Everyone thinks in a different way and we also have a different character.

The character of a person is mostly decided by the education of the person. It defines your character. Maybe you had a tough time, so you may react heavier on troublesome situations, because you don’t know better. Your parents probably taught you all kinds of tricks to survive.

Most people also have other goals in life than other people. Some people want to travel the world and some people want to work and have a family. Some of us want to become a lawyer, others rather want to be a charwoman. Think about it, how boring would this world be if we were all the same, pursuing the same goals?

People also differ in lifestyle. Some of our peers work. They can buy whatever they want, they can do whatever they want because they earn their money. But immigrants don’t work because they can’t find work. Some immigrants don’t like that and they want a job. But they don’t usually get the chance to prove themselves because it’s hard to hide that you are not from Belgium. You have a different name. Your skin color is different. And this makes that people can’t find work, so they can’t buy whatever they want, they can’t do whatever they want because they don’t have the money to do so. So there is a difference in lifestyle.

We also look different. There are people with different skin colors. They cannot choose to change this. These people are often treated differently because of their skin color too. There are people with different hair colors and length. Some have long hair and some short, some have dark and others light hair. People mostly choose the length of their hair and as for the color, you can dye your hair in a different color if you want. People also differ in the way they dress, hip hopper, skater or street, they’re all different.

We’re different when it comes to the colour of our skin, but it’s not just that. We are also different when it comes to our lifestyle, education, the way we dress, what our passion is. Some people grew up on the streets, others grew up living in a huge villa.

However we’re equal in the fact that we’re all different, and that as a matter of fact, is the beauty of this world we’re living in. We are harmonious in the reality that we are all held to this earth by the same gravity. We don’t share blood, but we share the air that keeps us alive. It’s just like Forest Gump’s box of chocolate: Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you’re going to get. And that’s just the beauty of it, that’s why a box of chocolate is so delicious. We are the chocolates and that’s why we don’t have to be the same.
