My Personal Resolution: Tolerance in Life
There shouldn‘t be any borders in our hearts
In my opinion, children should learn about tolerance and its importance at an early age, either from
their parents, or in kindergarden. To me, tolerance is a question of acceptance and respect towards
all other people. Children should learn at a young age how to behave and interact with other people.
We are all alike and we all wish to live in peace. If someone has a different skin colour, we should
treat him just like we would treat someone of the same skin colour and not as an enemy.
In principle, we are all alike, and if we all tolerate each other, our world would be a much more
peaceful place.
Handicapped people should be no exception to this rule. They have the same worth as other people,
with the same thoughts and wishes. Only tolerance towards handicapped people can help them in
their everyday lives.
There are no borders in our hearts. Nations are only devided by borders to make living together on
our planet easier. Nations should respect each other as well; history is full of examples, what
happens, if this respect is lost. The Second World War, which caused great suffering, is such an
example.
Nobody can force people to love one another, but different religions must be accepted and tolerated.
If this fundamental value is lost, the world could quickly turn into a katastrophic place to live.
In these days, with thousands of refugees fleeing countries were intolerance rules, the importance of
a fundamental principle of our society has become very evident, with many nations welcoming
and tolerating foreign people. Refugees desperately need our help to live in peace and without fear
and have a chance to lead a happy life. They have fled from terrorist attacks, as they have occurred
in the Middle East and, not long ago, in Paris and are commonplace in their home countries. If we
tolerate them and treat them with respect, we can make the world a more peaceful place to live in.
Tolerance today, in a globalized world is more important than ever. It is one of the most important
values to us humans and must be held up as such.
