Interwiews Erasmus Project – Italian group (Students)

  • What’s your name and your nationality?

-Michelle Quattropanetti: My name is Michelle and I was born in Rome but my mother is slovak.

-Maratbek Tynybekov: My name is Marat and I’m from Kirghizistan.

-Daniele D’alessandro: My name is Daniele and I’m from Rome.

-Mihaela: My name is Mihaela and I’m Romanian.

-Gabriele Ndoj: My name is Gabriele and I’m from Albania.

-Georgiana Ionela Zaharia: My name is Georgiana and I’m from Romania.

  • What does ethnicity mean for you?

-Georgiana: For me ethnicity is a group of people who speak the same language, traditions and culture.

-Maratbek: Ethnicity for me is a gruop of people who have in common the language, cultures, uses and customs.

-Gabriele: Well, for me is the difference between some cultures even though for me there shouldn’t be.

  • Are you aware of the different ethnicities in your country? Can you tell us about them?

-Daniele: Yes, in Italy the italians became a minorance cause we’re nearly all romanians, moldovans and russians now.

-Mihaela: Yes, in Romania aside for romanians there are also gypsies, moldovens and russians.

-Michelle: Yeah, in Italy there are a lot of ethnicities like asiatic and slovak population.

  • Do you think there is discriminations between the ethnic gruops in your country? What are they? What are the reasons for this?

-Gabriele: I think there aren’t discriminations in my country.

-Mihaela: Yes, especially between romanians and moldovans and also between romanians and gypsies.

-Maratbek: No, from what I have noticed regard Italy.

  • What can be done to prevent this discriminations?

-Michelle: I think we should adapt to accept other types of cultures.

-Georgiana: For me we shouldn’t be prevented to someone of another country and we should open our mind, know other cultures and languages.

-Daniele: Well, by now it became more frequent regard to last years. So, it became even more difficult but for me we should start from the little things until to those biggers.

  • What are the advantages of having different ethnicities in your country?

-Maratbek: The advantages are, for example, to know new languages, cultures and also religions.

-Gabriele: Expand the culture of every single person.

-Daniele: Well, for example in my classroom there are more strangers than italians so, even if don’t want, we can learn some words in their language or, for example, they talk about their religions.

  • What’s your name and which subject do you teach?

-P. Vari: My name is Pina Vari and I teach italian and history in this technical institute for tourism.

-D. Di Biasio: My name is Daniele Di Biasio and I teach italian and history in the I.I.S.S. Charles Darwin.

  • What does ethnicity mean for you?

-D. Di Biasio: Ethnicity concept is an ancient concept that should means a gruop of people of the same country with same traditions and religion and obviously nowadays the concept of ethnicity has been globalized and has changed his conception.

  • Are you aware of the different ethnicities in your country? Can you tell us about them?

-P. Vari: Because Rome is becoming a multiethnic city and as a result in the school we have to deal with a lot of foreigner students too who come from different cities, languanges and countries. Expecially languanges that meet with our language.

  • Do you think there is discriminations between the ethnic gruops in your country? What are they? What are the reasons for this?

-D. Di Biasio: I think there are discriminations but I think there isn’t discriminatory will. I think there is a discrimination dectated by a difficulty from our country to welcome.

  • What can be done to prevent this discriminations?

-P. Vari: Well, for me: better life conditions surely help the integration.

  • What are the advantages of having different ethnicities in your country?

-D. Di Biasio: I think there are a lot of advantages. I think that the future of our country and our world, especially for the eccidental world, is in the inrtegration of this ethnic groups.
